QR Codes—
We see them everywhere now but what are they, what do they do, and how do we use them?
Well the term is short for " Quick Response Codes". They are used to store information such as websites URL's, contact information, pictures, location information, messages, and even video's.
Anyone with a Smartphone can get a free app from the internet and download it right to their phone anytime. Once the app is installed all you have to do it scan the QR Code with your camera and you will instantly get the information or be sent right to the site of the code. The information is then stored in that app so you can return to it anytime you wish. You may also take any site, words, video or pictures that you chose and create a QR code yourself right from your smartphone. Once the code has been created it automatically is saved and you can upload, share, or send it as a message to anyone at anytime.
Here at English we use our QR Coding on ads to get information to our customers. We have them in newspapers, on our placemats, and on our brochures. For example if you and your family are out to eat at a restaurant and see our ad on a placemat you can scan the code and watch our commercial that is aired directly on Comcast or be taken right to our website where you can schedule service while it is fresh in your mind. It is a fun and educationally way to pass the time and create conversation. We have chosen this method of advertising because not only is it inexpensive compared to most but it is convenient. How many of us these days go anywhere without our cell phones? I mean really…. You have everything you need at your finger tips 24/7. I personally have my contact information stored as a QR Code so when I am out I can easily send or allow someone to scan my information and it is automatically saved in their contacts. You can also send messages through codes so that no one can read them unless they scan the code.
